Abyss Gate

the Site

AbyssGate.com was a news hub for the popular MMORPG Aion. The idea sprung from the WoW Unity site which is a resource for World of Warcraft blogs, podcasts, etc. Abyss Gate was intended as an expansion on that concept by automatically pulling in various web content and displaying it to users while, at the same time, directing traffic to the proper sources. It would serve as a dynamic and interactive directory for all web media concerning Aion.

the Challenge

The site made heavy use of Drupal's Feed API module and associated modules. Given the highly technical PC gaming community, everything needed to be very streamlined and automatic. The site also posed security and usability challenges due to the nature of the site. With most content being user submitted or pulled from outside sources, everything needed to be filtered and sanitized before it was usable.

the Finish

This was a hobby site that unfortunately shifted to the back burner when higher priority contracts came into play.
