About
View Larger Map That little dot up there is Batavia, New York, right in the middle of Western NY and conveniently placed between Rochester and Buffalo. It's a city with a small-town community, Buffalo's snow, and Rochester's industrial feel, Batavia isn't exactly known as a technology epicenter, but it is where helusionary is based. Our business and team are global. we've worked with other developers and clients from New York City to Thailand and everywhere in-between because the best ideas don't come from the same group of people sitting in an office day after day. The best ideas come from a diverse group of minds that scatter the globe, experiencing different things, and then every so often coming together to spark something innovative. Who is helusionary? helusionary is primarily the work of one man, Nicholas, achieved through the efforts of many. See Why the name? for more. What does "helusionary" mean? Unique business names, and subsequent domain names, are hard to come by nowadays. So in classic web fashion, we made up our own word! It stems from "helusion", the Greek form of Elysian fields, a plain for blessed warriors in the afterlife. We took that, combined it with "visionary" and came out with helusionary. It conveys our mission, which is to abandon the web practices of the past and strive for a perfect form of development that is paradise for both our developers and our clients. Why the name? I [Nicholas] am often asked this question when meeting someone new. The answer has to do with perception and misconception (not to be confused with inception). Most people assume that hiring a web developer means relying solely on that developers skills. This isn't true for us. Working with open source software guarantees that at the very least you'll have the skills of myself and the entire open source community behind the platforms in use. I also seldom work alone. With a network of developers around the world, helusionary can find you the developers, designers, and resources you need. How does this benefit clients? Our clients' benefits are:
- Faster output: Building on existing platforms take the basics out of the development cycle and allows us to immediately focus on your specific needs.
- Lower costs: Time is money, and using open source platforms not only saves the time spent developing basic features it also speeds development along by using the resources of an entire community of developers.
- Stability and security: Using open source means that hundreds or even thousand of eyes have reviewed and tested code that's used on your site. Updates aren't handed down from some corporate entity. They're immediately developed, peer reviewed, and openly available.
